Foot Surgery

The main purpose of an ankle surgery is the reconstruction of bone structure in the ankle. It is done to restore the functionality of this particular body part. Whether it is ankle or foot surgery, the concept behind both is to improve the functions of the foot.

Reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle consists of complex surgical repairs that may be necessary to regain function or stability, reduce pain, and prevent further deformity or disease.

In many cases, reconstructive foot surgery may require tendon repair or transfer, fusion of bones, joint replacement, bone or skin grafting, and precise osteotomies in order to repair or correct congenital or acquired deformities. Bone screws, pins, wires, staples, and other fixation devices and casts may be utilized to stabilize and repair bone in reconstructive procedures.
